Anxiety-Free Dentistry

Dental anxiety is a common condition experienced by several dental patients. It can prevent you from receiving the dental care you need. Unfortunately, avoiding professional dental care can present a host of problems and potentially put your oral health in danger. At Greenway Family Dental, we have a solution to your dental fears and worries. We offer anti-anxiety dentistry as a means to lessening dental anxiety, so you can get the proper dental care you need.

Nitrous Oxide

The first and most commonly used way of sedating our patients is called nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas. Nitrous oxide can be used to help calm fearful children, but is also commonly used for adults who have mild anxiety when it comes to visiting the dentist.

It works this way: we’ll fit a mask snugly over your nose to allow you to breathe in the laughing gas. This agent then allows you to relax and feel a greater sense of calm. The benefit of nitrous oxide is that when the procedure is completed and the mask removed, the effects wear off quickly and easily.

Other Anti-Anxiety Options

The second method we use to help alleviate nerves and discomfort is through anti-anxiety medication. The medication can be used for general dentistry procedures, as well as for cosmetic and restorative dental procedures.

At Greenway Family Dental we use safe medications to help calm and soothe our patients, as well as to lessen the pain and discomfort they may experience. Dr. Steele takes care to make sure that these medicines are given responsibly and in doses that are appropriate to the patient’s needs.

At Greenway Family Dental we care about our patients which is why we strive to provide effective anti-anxiety dentistry. We offer an anti-anxiety medication as well as nitrous oxide, but we do not use general anesthesia in our offices. These powerful anti-anxiety dentistry options will help put you at ease, so you can start your path to a healthier, cleaner smile.
